In 2018, I (JL) started drawing maps for my friend’s campaigns. I didn’t have enough time to dedicate towards playing, so I found a way to stay connected and still express some creativity.
Almost immediately I became too busy to draw. I was frustrated with how long it took to produce something usable - there had to be another way.
I partnered up with my close friend (and experienced developer) Anthony to create “Owlbear”, our first map builder. After three years and hundreds (likely thousands) of hours in development, writing, designing, and promoting we’ve built TileForge into what it is today.
There is still a long way ahead of us, but we’re proud to say that hundreds of people love and use our tools each day.
We both still work full-time jobs and put our off-hours into this project. As we grow our user base, and revenue, we plan to reinvest into art assets and other tools to help dungeon masters take back their time.
